Childhood and Early Career
Born in Latvia, Vladimirs Koļesņičenko began his football career at a young age. He joined the prestigious FK Skonto youth academy, where he honed his skills as a talented midfielder.
Professional Club Career
Upon graduating from the academy, Koļesņičenko made his professional debut for FK Skonto. He quickly established himself as a key player for the club, helping them secure nine Latvian league titles between 1997 and 2007. His impressive performances also earned him opportunities to play for other Latvian clubs, including FK Ventspils and FK Inter.
International Career
Koļesņičenko's success at club level extended to the international stage. He made his debut for the Latvian national team in 1998 and represented his country in 37 matches, scoring 16 goals.
Controversies and Legal Troubles
Koļesņičenko's off-field life has been marked by controversies and legal troubles. In 2006, he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the loss of his driver's license. Two years later, he was again apprehended for attempting to teach someone to drive while intoxicated. In 2010, Koļesņičenko was sentenced to a month in jail for the same offense.
Post-Retirement and Presidency
After retiring as a player, Koļesņičenko remained involved in football. In February 2012, he assumed the role of President of FK Skonto, the club where he began his career. Under his leadership, Skonto has continued to be a force in Latvian football.
