Vladimir Tikhonov: A Soviet Actor and Legacy

Early Life and Family

Vladimir Tikhonov was born on February 28, 1950, in Moscow, to renowned actors Vyacheslav Tikhonov and Nonna Mordyukova. His paternal half-sister was Anna Tikhonova.

Education and Theatre Career

Tikhonov graduated from the Boris Schukin Theatre School in 1971. He served as an actor at the Soviet Army Theatre from 1971 to 1973 and the Film Actor's Studio Theatre from 1973 to 1990.

Film Career

Tikhonov starred in 18 films, with his most notable role as Filipp Ugryumov in "Russkoye Pole" (Russian Field). He also participated in the 1970 dubbing of the restored film "Son Polka" (Son of the Regiment).

Personal Life

Tikhonov's first wife was actress Natalya Varley, whom he married in 1971. They had a son, Vasily, in 1972. The marriage ended in 1978 due to Tikhonov's drug use.

In 1975, he married Natalia Tikhonova (Yegorova), an actress and former figure skater. They had a son, Vladimir, in 1981, who became an actor and singer.

Death and Legacy

Tikhonov passed away on June 11, 1990, in Moscow, at the age of 41. The cause of death was heart failure due to a suspected drug overdose, although no drug traces were found in his blood. He was buried alongside his mother at the Kuntsevo Cemetery.
