International Success
Veremeyev's exceptional skills earned him a place in the Soviet national team. Between 1972 and 1977, he represented his country, showcasing his tenacity in attack and discipline in defense. He played a pivotal role in the team's silver medal finish at the 1972 European Championship and bronze medal at the 1976 Olympics.
Club Achievements
At Dynamo Kyiv, Veremeyev was an integral part of the team's golden era. He was crowned Champion of the USSR four times (1971, 1974, 1975, 1977), lifted the Soviet Cup in 1974, and led the club to victory in the 1975 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and UEFA Super Cup. His achievements were recognized with the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR in 1975.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Veremeyev pursued a successful coaching career. He managed SΚA Kyiv and Avanhard Rivne before becoming an assistant coach for the Ukrainian Olympic team and later worked for the Ukrainian Football Federation.
Awards and Recognition
Veremeyev's contributions to football were celebrated with numerous awards. He was included in the List of 33 Best Footballers of the USSR Season three times, ranking first in 1974 and 1975. In 2004, he received the Order of Merit, Third Class, followed by the Second Class in 2015 and the First Class in 2017.
Legacy
Volodymyr Veremeyev passed away in 2017 and was laid to rest at the Lisove Cemetery in Kyiv. His exceptional talent, determination, and love for the game continue to inspire generations of footballers.
