Biography of Vova Gudym
Early Life and Dance TrainingVladimir Gudym, also known as Vovan Gudym, was born in Kiev in 1991. His parents noticed his talents at an early age and enrolled him in a folk dance section. Although he was not particularly interested in folk dances, he regularly attended the classes from the 2nd to the 9th grades. In addition to dancing, Vova was very active and also joined a chess section. In his later years of school, he became fascinated with hip-hop, especially after watching performances by the renowned Australian choreographer Wade Robson. Inspired by Robson's incredible dance moves, Gudym started imitating him and had some success.

Star Dance and Formation of Island-Dance
When Vova turned 14, he heard about the MTV project "Star Dance". Without hesitation, he decided to audition. Despite having only trained in folk dance and imitating Robson's moves, he successfully passed the audition and was accepted into the project. After participating in "Star Dance", which marked the beginning of Vova Gudym's creative biography, he was invited to join the dance collective "Street Jazz" as a junior member. Determined to become a full-fledged member of the team, he worked hard on himself and quickly succeeded. A few months later, he started contemplating the idea of forming his own dance collective. This idea soon became a reality, and Vova became the artistic director and choreographer of "Island-Dance".

Success and Recognition
In 2007, Gudym and his "Island-Dance" group performed at the "Jazz Congress" festival for the first time. Although they didn't win the main prize, the young collective made a strong impression and their vibrant performance garnered a significant number of views on YouTube. In 2010, "Island-Dance" held their first concert, which coincided with the group's 5th anniversary. One of the most memorable numbers was called "Western" and featured numerous special effects, decorations, and theatrical elements. Vova Gudym received many positive reviews and recognition from fellow professionals for his choreography skills.

Television Appearances and Teaching
In 2012, Gudym participated in the project "Nastya" on the first channel. Alongside choreographer Vyacheslav Kulaev, he created an impressive dance number accompanied by funk music. This project also gave Gudym the opportunity to showcase the dance style "locking," in which he is considered a leader in Russia. In 2013, "Island-Dance" competed in the "Star Dance" project, which lasted for four weeks. Each week, the teams presented a new dance number, and the losing team was eliminated. "Island-Dance" made it to the finals with a brilliant number called "Mafia".
