Biography of Dmitry Chaplin

Dmitry Alexandrovich Chaplin was born in 1982 in Rostov-on-Don, in the former Soviet Union. He is a professional dancer of Russian descent, specializing in Latin dances.

Dmitry's family immigrated to the United States, and he completed his schooling there. He studied at Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, New York for one semester.

Dmitry started dancing in the Soviet Union and continued his passion in the United States. In 2006, he became a finalist in the US National Amateur Dancesport Championships held in Provo, Utah.

In the same year, Dmitry gained recognition as a contestant on the second season of the popular American reality show, "So You Think You Can Dance."
