Early Life and Career
Vsevolod Konstantinovich Laptev was born in Moscow on June 23, 1909. After completing his secondary education, he moved to Leningrad, where he worked in a factory. In 1931, he joined the Red Army.
Military Service
After graduating from the Leningrad Artillery School, Laptev served in the Soviet-Finnish War of 1939-1940. As commander of a division of the 24th Corps Artillery Regiment, he distinguished himself in breaking through the enemy's main defensive line on the Karelian Isthmus. His division suppressed five enemy batteries, destroyed an anti-tank gun, and two machine gun positions, facilitating the advance of Soviet troops.
World War II
Laptev participated in the Great Patriotic War from June 1941. He commanded an artillery regiment and later the 193rd Howitzer Artillery Brigade.
Post-War Service
In 1946, Laptev graduated from the Higher Artillery Academic Courses and in 1955 from the Higher Academic Courses under the Military Academy of the General Staff. He retired from the military in 1957 with the rank of colonel.
Civilian Life
After leaving military service, Laptev lived in Leningrad. He passed away on February 6, 1970, and was buried in the Cemetery of the Memory of the Victims of January 9th in Saint Petersburg.
