A Life of Valor: The Biography of Allaverdiyev
Early YearsAllaverdiyev was born into a peasant family in Azerbaijan. He received an incomplete secondary education and worked on a collective farm. In 1932, he became a member of the Communist Party. From 1931 to 1933, he served in the Red Army, and from 1933 to 1936, he attended the Tbilisi Military Infantry School. After graduating, he served in political roles within the military.
A Hero in the War
Allaverdiyev entered the war in July 1941. He fought in the battles near Moscow, where his heroism earned him the Order of the Red Star. He participated in the liberation of Ukraine and Hungary.
The Battle on the Danube
On the night of December 1, 1944, during a battle on the banks of the Danube, Allaverdiyev's battalion annihilated 500 enemy soldiers and captured 2,200 more. They also seized 24 cannons, 36 machine guns, 8 mortars, and a stockpile of ammunition and supplies.
The Defense of Budapest
In the battle for Budapest, Allaverdiyev's battalion halted a column of 120 tanks that were attempting to reinforce the German troops. They destroyed 25 tanks and killed or captured around 700 enemy soldiers.
Post-War Years
Allaverdiyev retired from the military as a major in 1946. He passed away on May 19, 1969.
Legacy
Allaverdiyev's bravery and leadership earned him the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on March 24, 1945. He is remembered as a valiant soldier who fought tirelessly for his country.
