Wayne Black, a former professional tennis player from Zimbabwe, is known for his exceptional skills in doubles. He was born into a tennis-loving family and grew up playing on the courts his father, Don, built on their family avocado plantation.

At the age of 16, Black attended a tennis academy in New Braunfels, Texas, USA. He then played for three years as part of the University of Southern California tennis team and was twice selected for the All-American Team in both singles and doubles.

In 1993, Black began representing Zimbabwe in the Davis Cup. He achieved three victories against Norway in his debut, playing both singles and doubles matches alongside his older brother Byron. That same year, he played his first professional tournament in Indian Wells.

In 1994, Black reached the final of the NCAA Championships in singles. The following year, he won his first ATP Challenger title in Mumbai, partnering with Byron. He also reached the final of a Challenger event in singles on the Azores.

In 1996, Black represented Zimbabwe in the Olympic Games held in Atlanta. He advanced to the second round in both singles and doubles, partnering with Byron.

In 1997, Black and his partner Jim Grabb reached the semifinals of both Wimbledon and the US Open in the doubles competition. This achievement propelled Black into the top 50 doubles players in the world.

In 1998, Black reached his first ATP final in St. Pölten, Austria, partnering with David Adams. The following year, he teamed up with Australian player Sandon Stolle.
