Early Life and Modeling Career
Wendy Malik was born on December 12, 1950, in Buffalo, New York. Her mother, Gigi, was a model, and her father, Ken Malik, was an Egyptian salesman. Malik graduated from Williamsville South High School and briefly worked as a model for Wilhelmina.
Transition to Acting
In 1982, Malik left modeling to pursue acting. Her first film role was in Bruce Paltrow's comedy "A Little Sex." Despite an unsuccessful audition for "Cheers," Malik landed her first lead role in the HBO sitcom "Dream On" in 1990. She won four CableACE Awards for her performance before leaving the show in 1996.
Breakout Role and Emmy Nominations
Malik's breakout role came in 1997 as the shallow and alcoholic supermodel Nina Van Horn in the sitcom "Just Shoot Me!" She received two Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1999 and 2002.
Film and Television Credits
Malik has appeared in over 140 television shows and films. Notable roles include Ann Lander and Abigail Van Buren in "Take My Advice: The Ann and Abby Story," and voicing characters in "Fillmore!" and "Bratz."

Wendy Malik has been married twice. Her first marriage to actor and screenwriter Mitch Glazer lasted from 1982 to 1989. In 1992, she married Richard Erickson. The couple is involved in supporting a medical center in the Congo and a women's shelter in Tijuana, Mexico. They live in the Santa Monica Mountains with their pets.
