Biography of Wenseslao Moguel

Wenseslao Moguel, a Mexican who survived nine bullets and a final shot, fought on the side of the revolutionaries during the Mexican Revolution in the early 20th century. His story is still read like a fairy tale, as the circumstances in which Moguel managed to survive seem simply unreal.

Wenseslao Moguel

The Revolutionary Soldier

When the revolution broke out in Mexico, Wenseslao Moguel fought on the side of the revolutionaries. His friends and comrades-in-arms called him Venni, and at that time, he was a handsome young man, cheerful and brave.

The Miraculous Survival

In 1915, when he was captured and thrown into prison, he was prepared for a harsh sentence. When he was sentenced to death without trial, and lined up against the wall, he decided to behave courageously and accept the bullets that awaited him. However, Wenseslao could not have expected that there would be not just one bullet, but ten. The shots of the firing squad rang out abruptly and unquestionably, and Moguel fell. He was hit by nine bullets, but the officer in charge of the execution wanted to make sure that the revolutionary soldier was dead, so he fired a control shot to his head. Incredibly, Wenseslao Moguel survived.

The Marked Survivor

The wounds left him with terrible scars, and he was even referred to as the "guy you would hardly want to dance with at a party". His face was disfigured by a scar that ran through the entire lower part, turning his chin into a gruesome mess. However, it is inappropriate to discuss how a person looks after being shot nine times and then receiving a control shot.

The Living Legend

When Moguel's lifeless body lay on the floor and the firing squad left with a sense of duty fulfilled, the "dead" suddenly moved. He managed to escape and make his way back to his comrades. He managed to survive and not die from his wounds. Later, the story of Wenseslao was retold like a legend, and he became a frequent guest on various television shows, recounting how he managed to survive after being shot ten times. It was said that many people couldn't help but feel nauseous at the sight of his face. They said that despite his horrifying appearance, Wenseslao was a very kind soul. It was said that his life after all these events was neither smooth nor easy.

The Ballad of El Fusilado

There is a song written about Wenseslao Moguel called "El Fusilado" which tells the story of a soldier of the Mexican Revolution who managed to survive after being shot ten times.
