Wilhelm Friedrich Knop was a German agricultural chemist who made significant contributions to the field.

Education and Career

After completing his studies at the universities of Göttingen and Heidelberg, Knop began his career as a lecturer at the Leipzig Commercial School (1847). In 1853, he became a private lecturer at the university.

Experimental Agricultural Station

From 1856 onwards, Knop headed the experimental agricultural station near Leipzig. This facility demonstrated the scientific importance and practical benefits of such institutions.

Professorship and Research

In 1863, Knop became a professor at Leipzig University. Through his scientific work in his laboratory and the training of numerous students, he played a crucial role in the rapid advancement of agricultural chemistry.
