Early Life and Career

William Silva de Carvalho, a Portuguese footballer, was born in Angola but relocated to Portugal with his family during his early years. At the age of 13, he joined the youth academy of Sporting CP in Lisbon.

Debut and Loans

In 2011, Carvalho made his main team debut for Sporting CP in a match against Vitória Guimarães. Shortly after, he was sent on a six-month loan to Fátima, a third-tier Portuguese club. In 2012, he was loaned to Belgian side Cercle Brugge for a season and a half.

Return to Sporting CP

Prior to the start of the 2013/14 season, Carvalho returned to Sporting CP and established himself as a regular in the first team. He scored his first goal for the club in a match against Porto in October 2013. In 2016, Carvalho extended his contract with the club until 2020.

International Career

Carvalho has represented Portugal at various youth levels since 2007. He made his debut for the Portugal under-21 team in 2012 and scored two goals in qualifying matches for the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. In 2013, he received his first call-up to the senior national team for the World Cup play-off against Sweden. He made his debut in the second leg against Sweden, earning his first cap for Portugal.

Achievements

Carvalho has been part of the victorious Portugal team that won the UEFA European Championship in 2016.
