Biography of Wolfram Sievers

Wolfram Sievers was born on July 10, 1905, in Hildesheim. He became a member of the Nazi Party (NSDAP) in 1929 (membership number 144983). In 1935, after the establishment of the Ahnenerbe Society, he became its General Secretary and was enlisted in the SS (membership number 275325).

Role in the Third Reich

Sievers played a significant role in the racial policies of the Third Reich. He closely collaborated with Dr. August Hirt while serving as the General Secretary of Ahnenerbe. His responsibilities included the technical and economic preparations for the establishment of research laboratories and institutes within concentration camps.

Position in the SS

Sievers held the rank of Standartenführer (Colonel) in the SS. He also served as the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Reich Research Council. On November 9, 1942, he became the head of the Ahnenerbe department in the personal staff of the Reichsführer SS.

Post-War Trial and Execution

After the end of World War II, Sievers was arrested and sentenced to death on August 20, 1947, during the trial of Nazi doctors. Contrary to some sources' claims, he was hanged on June 2 of the following year, rather than being shot. His involvement in the atrocities committed during the war led to his ultimate punishment.
