Born in Russia, the writer, playwright, and screenwriter received his education at the Odessa Art Institute. In 1936, he began working at the Odessa Film Studio, where he gained recognition for his contributions.

Throughout his career, the author received numerous medals for his work. He became a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR in 1978.
