Early Life and Education

Jana Kraynova was born and raised in Latvia. As a child, she exhibited a drive for independence. She enrolled in various dance studios, studied the flute at a music school, and mastered multiple foreign languages, including English, German, and French.

In high school, Jana recognized her potential beyond the confines of her hometown, Jurmala. She turned her sights to Riga, where she joined Viktor Janson's theater studio. It was there that she discovered her true calling in the dramatic arts.

Choice to Study in Moscow

Faced with the decision of where to pursue her theatrical ambitions, Jana considered Latvia, Germany, and Moscow. She dismissed Germany due to its language barrier and European mentality. Moscow, however, captivated her with its vibrant energy.

Upon informing her parents of her decision, Jana received their support despite their initial surprise. They respected her aspirations and encouraged her to pursue her dreams.

Moscow Theater Institute (VGIK)

After thorough preparation, Jana applied to every theater institute in Moscow. She initially received an unfavorable response from Konstantin Arkadyevich Raikin, but his encouragement motivated her to rework her program.

Ultimately, Jana was admitted to the Moscow Film School (VGIK), where she studied under the tutelage of V. Grammatikov. The rigorous training involved 20-hour workdays, rehearsals, dormitory living, and navigating the crowded Moscow metro.

Early Career and Break

Upon graduating in 2009 with the Golden Leaf Award for her diploma performances in "...The Third..." and "The Last", Jana faced the common challenge of navigating the post-graduation job market.

After several minor film roles, Jana landed the role of realtor Marina in the TV series "Reflections". This role marked a significant turning point in her career.

Stardom with "Dr. Zaitseva's Diary"

In 2010, Jana was invited to audition for the TV series "Dr. Zaitseva's Diary". On the eve of 2011, she was cast as the lead protagonist, Dr. Alexandra Ilyinichna Zaitseva.

Jana's performance as a sensitive and emotional surgeon resonated with audiences. To prepare for the role, she witnessed real-life surgeries and attended medical lectures with the cast.

The series became a Russian counterpart to "Bridget Jones's Diary" and launched Jana Kraynova's film career.
