Gaon was born in 1939 in the Beit Hakerem neighborhood of Jerusalem to Moshe-David and Sara Gaon. His father, an immigrant from Bosnia, worked as a Hebrew teacher before settling in Palestine.
Military Service and Artistic Debut
In 1957, Gaon joined the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and was assigned to the Nahal Entertainment Troupe. This marked the beginning of his musical and acting career.
Breakthrough in Music
In 1969, Gaon achieved significant success at the Israel Song Festival. He won first place with "Ballad of the Medic" and second place with "The Oak."
