Yo Gotti, born Mario Mims on May 19, 1981, is an American rapper and the founder of the label "Cocaine Muzik Group" (CMG). He grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, where he began his music career. At the age of fourteen, Mario transformed into a rapper known as Lil 'Yo' and signed with the group "DJ Sound". Between 2000 and 2006, he released several albums as an independent artist.
After several delays, Yo Gotti finally released his debut studio album, "Live From The Kitchen", on January 10, 2012. The album featured the hit singles "5 Star," "Women Lie, Men Lie" (featuring Lil Wayne), and "Look In the Mirror". Although the album debuted at number 12 on the US Billboard 200 chart, it didn't perform as well as expected, leading Yo Gotti to part ways with RCA Records and Polo Grounds Music in 2012.
In October 2012, Yo Gotti released the seventh installment of his popular mixtape series, "Cocaine Muzik", titled "Cocaine Muzik 7: The World Is Yours". In early 2013, he announced a distribution deal with Epic Records, with the support of his longtime business partner, Antonio M. 'L.A.' Reid. Yo Gotti's sixth studio album, "I Am", was released on November 19, 2013. The album featured the singles "Act Right" (featuring Young Jeezy and YG), "King Shit" (featuring T.I.), and "Cold Blood" (featuring J. Cole).
Yo Gotti continued to work on his music and released the single "Errrbody" in anticipation of his upcoming album, "The Art Of Hustle", which was set to be released in 2015. The album's second single, "Rihanna", was made available in July 2015. Throughout his career, Yo Gotti has collaborated with various artists and gained recognition for his unique style and storytelling abilities.
In addition to his successful music career, Yo Gotti is also the CEO of CMG, formerly known as "Cocaine Musik Group". The label currently works with five artists. Yo Gotti changed the abbreviation from "Cocaine Musik Group" to "Collective Music Group", believing it to be a better fit for underground labels and future stars signed to the label. CMG's first official release was Yo Gotti's album "I Am". In 2014, CMG released the compilation album "Chapter One", featuring songs from all its artists.
Yo Gotti's career hasn't been without its controversies. In 2012, he had a dispute with rapper Gucci Mane over the release dates of their respective mixtapes. Despite these challenges, Yo Gotti remains a prominent figure in the rap industry and continues to release music and collaborate with other artists.
