Butterflies and Elvis and International Recognition
After declining a major record deal, Yohanna focused on refining her vocal technique in Denmark. This led to the creation of her debut adult album, "Butterflies and Elvis," which featured soulful and intimate songs. The album was critically acclaimed upon its release in 2008, topping Icelandic charts.
Eurovision Success
Yohanna represented Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Is It True?" Her performance was a Scandinavian masterpiece, featuring a blue and white stage design and Yohanna herself in an elegant blue gown. She emerged victorious in the first semi-final and ultimately placed second in the grand final.
