Early Life and Education
Born on November 18, 1987, in Seoul, South Korea, Yoon Park was raised by his father following his parents' divorce during his middle school years at Kwangsan Middle School. Despite the familial separation, Yoon remains grateful to his father for ensuring his upbringing alongside his younger brother.
Yoon's interest in the arts sparked early on, leading him to aspire to attend an arts high school. However, his father's disapproval pushed him to pursue a typical education. It was a performance of "The Phantom of the Opera" that ignited his passion for entertainment.
Subsequently, Yoon enrolled in the Acting Department of the Korea National University of Arts, a renowned institution that has produced notable actors such as Lee Sung Gyun and Jang Dong Gun. During his studies, he also indulged in music, participating as a drummer in the band Can't Play Well at the 34th MBC Campus Song Festival, where they won a bronze medal.
Film and Television Career
Yoon's on-screen debut came in 2012 with a minor role in the television comedy "Read My Lips." He followed this up with another small part in "Glass Mask." While these initial appearances failed to gain him significant attention, Yoon's breakthrough came in 2013 when he portrayed the villainous U Il-kyu in the medical drama "Good Doctor."
As the charming yet unlikeable antagonist, Yoon's popularity soared. In 2014, he landed the lead role of Cha Kang-jae in the family drama "What's with This Family." Yoon has admitted to auditioning for the part four times and facing criticism during filming and script readings.
Yoon then made his mark in "Discovery of Love," a romantic comedy, and the crime series "Reset." In 2015, he starred in the MBC drama "Flower of the Queen," opposite Lee Sung Kyung, as Park Jae-joon, an heir who falls for an ambitious culinary host.
The following years saw Yoon continue his prolific work, appearing in various series including "Return of the Ajussi," "Uncontrollably Fond," "The Young Generation," "Unkind Ladies," "Package Tour," and "Magical School."
Breakthrough and Versatility
In 2017, Yoon shattered his established gentle image with his chilling portrayal of the sinister Jae-gu in the film "Familyhood" (also known as "The Soup"). This role further cemented his standing in the industry.
Despite his portrayal of a cold-blooded character in "Familyhood," Yoon simultaneously showcased his charm on variety programs, making hearts flutter as a guest on popular shows such as "Running Man" and "Wednesday Food Talk," among others.
Continued Success
In 2018, Yoon joined the cast of the crime drama "Room No. 9" alongside Kim Hee-sun and Kim Hae-sook. He further demonstrated his versatility by playing pivotal roles in the films "Tuna and Dolphin" with Park Gyu-young and "The Dude in Me" with Kim Joo-hyeok in 2019.
Yoon took on the role of the cold-hearted Captain Song in the drama "Search" (2020), another acclaimed performance. The same year, he starred in "Postpartum Care Center," captivating viewers with his portrayal of the warm and compassionate Kim Do-yoon. He continued to enchant fans in 2021 with the lead role in "You Are My Spring."
Personal Life
As for his personal life, Yoon remains single and has prioritized his career. In 2015, he revealed that he had dated a student for over a year, but their relationship ended.
Yoon has stated that he is attracted to women with good looks, particularly those with full thighs and slim calves. In his relationships, he values attentiveness and consideration.
