Early Life and Education
Yulia Bordovskikh was born on July 5, 1969, in Moscow, Russia. Her mother, an engineer, left her profession to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. Her father was a professional simultaneous translator. Yulia displayed a passion for sports from a young age, becoming a candidate master of sports in basketball after graduating from the Olympic Reserve School in 1986.
Career in Sports and Journalism
Despite her athletic achievements, Yulia chose to pursue a career in journalism. She struggled initially in her studies at the Moscow State University Faculty of Journalism due to her previous focus on sports but eventually excelled. She graduated in 1991 while still playing basketball for MSU.
Yulia began her journalism career as a student and joined Radio Maximum in 1992, where she presented news and commentary on music, theater, and cinema. In 1994, Leonid Parfenov invited her to NTV, where she became a sports commentator for the "Today" program.
Rise to Prominence
On NTV and "NTV Plus.Sport," Yulia specialized in sports gymnastics and the Olympic movement. Her career took a significant turn in 2000 when she starred in an advertisement for Pepsi Light. In 2001, she joined a group of journalists who resigned from NTV to work at TV-6.
After the dissolution of TV-6, Yulia moved to NTV Plus, where she hosted her own program, "New Day with Yulia Bordovskikh." She also hosted the "SOSsuffering" charity marathon on NTV in 2004, supporting families affected by the Beslan terrorist attack.
Other Endeavors
In 2007, Yulia played the lead role in the film "Heat Stroke" directed by Rudolf Fruntov. She is also the author of two books, "Fitness with Pleasure" (2004) and "Fitness for Two" (2006).
