Yulia Pozhidaeva: A Rising Star in Russian Cinema and Television

Early Life and Education

Yulia Pozhidaeva, a 21-year-old actress, graduated from the illustrious Shchukin Theatrical School in Moscow. Her portrayal of Alena in the popular RTR television series "Undina" marked her first significant role on screen.

The Character of Alena

When asked about the similarities between her and her character, Pozhidaeva notes, "Alena lives near the sea, and she's drawn to nature. I may not live by the sea, but I share her sensibilities. I have that same wildness within me."

The Beauty of Filming in Yalta

The first episodes of "Undina" were filmed in the picturesque city of Yalta, Crimea. Pozhidaeva recalls, "The scenery was breathtaking, with the ocean, yachts, and dolphins. Dolphins are incredibly intelligent creatures. I remember an instance when someone's eyeglasses fell to the bottom of a pool, and the trainer simply commanded, 'Okay, darling, go get it!' And the dolphin gently retrieved the glasses with its beak. They're incredibly perceptive of your emotions, and if you're feeling down or afraid, it's best to stay away from them."

Harmonious Relationships on Set

Pozhidaeva has been fortunate to work alongside exceptional actors. "My primary partner was Alena Khmelnitskaya, who plays my mother. We connected immediately. She's both warm and approachable in person and a consummate professional," she says.

Artistic Inspirations

Pozhidaeva's artistic idols belong to the previous generation of actors. "I admire actors like Mikhail Alexandrovich Ulyanov. I believe that today's actors can learn from their naturalism, but with a contemporary sensibility. It would be a dream to collaborate with them," she reveals.

Balancing Creativity and Commerce

Pozhidaeva carefully considers the balance between artistic integrity and commercial success in her profession. "I'm against appearing in ridiculous commercials, but I also understand that it's not always possible to survive on theater wages alone. I don't know what the future holds, but for now, my goal is to act in feature films, not commercials. It's essential to define your priorities and pursue them relentlessly."

Recharging and Personal Passions

To rejuvenate after demanding shoots, Pozhidaeva enjoys spending time with friends, watching movies, and reading. "I'm currently reading Paulo Coelho, whose worldview resonates with me. Murakami is next on my list," she shares. Art is another outlet for Pozhidaeva, who finds joy in finger painting using makeup, creating abstract and evocative images.

Life Philosophy

When asked about her life philosophy, Pozhidaeva muses, "Life is as mysterious as you make it. That's my own creation. If you truly desire something, it will manifest. I strive to radiate warmth and positivity. I don't know how everything will unfold, but I hope to make a living doing what I love."

Forgiveness and Ideal Love

Pozhidaeva believes in the power of forgiveness, but she also sets boundaries. "I can forgive almost anything, but if someone betrays my trust, I will end the relationship without hesitation. I don't like confrontations, so I simply walk away." Despite the skepticism she may encounter, Pozhidaeva holds firm in her belief in ideal love. "I believe it's possible! I know it's often dismissed as childish idealism, that life gets in the way... but I refuse to live that way. I crave true love, and I want to raise a child in its embrace. I have faith, and I'm waiting patiently."

New Year's Wishes

As the Year of the Monkey approached, Pozhidaeva extended her wishes to the audience. "I hope that this year brings new discoveries in love, career, and life in general. May it be a year of fruitful experiences and meaningful connections. The most important thing is to live in harmony with your true nature."
