Early Career

Yummy's career began at the age of 7 when she started playing drums in church and later joined the choir. At the age of 9, a teacher noticed the uniqueness of her voice and recruited her as a solo performer for a school concert. However, Yummy was quite shy, and it wasn't until she was 12 years old that she started pursuing vocal training seriously. At the age of 12, Yummy and her father came up with the idea to record her first demo album. In 2000, the only person who took a serious interest in Yummy's talent was Kay Gee of the hip-hop group "Naughty By Nature." During this time, her father and hip-hop producer Supa Dave West helped Yummy and the group "De La Soul" record a song for the movie "Osmosis Jones."

"Tha' Rayne" Years

In 2000, Kay Gee, who had previously been interested in her demo album, brought Yummy into a new girl group called "Tha' Rayne" and signed a contract with the music label "Arista" in 2001. The group collaborated with "Boyz II Men," Queen Latifah, Jaheim, and the group "Next." As a member of "Tha' Rayne," Yummy gained attention with hit singles such as Jaheim's "Fabulous," "Rock Wit Me," and "No L.O.V.E." in 2002, and "Didn't You Know" in 2003, produced by Rich Harrison. In 2003, Yummy also worked as a backing vocalist for "De La Soul," Talib Kweli Green, Lou, and the group "2pac."

"Muzik Park" Years

In 2004, Yummy honed her songwriting skills and collaborated with producers such as Troy Oliver, Dre & Vidal, and The Buchanans. She also assisted with lyrics or vocals for Crystal Kay Williams, singer Tarralyn Ramsey, and Shawn Kane, among others. Around the same time, Yummy reunited with Grammy-winning group "Rockwilder" and began working together on projects for popular artists such as "Destiny's Child," Mya, and Mary J. Blige. Eventually, Yummy became a partial owner of the recording studio "Muzik Park" and one of the youngest female executives.

Later, Yummy left "Muzik Park" and revived Sylvia Rhone's label, "Motown Records." Her single, "Come Get It," was released in May 2005 and became a hit in the music and video world in the United States. In 2006, Yummy released singles "One More Chance" and "Is It Good To You" and her debut studio album, "The First Seed." Yummy also wrote the song "Making It Hard" and the international hit "Tell Me" performed by Christina Aguilera. Her second album is expected to be released in 2008.
