Early Life and Education
Born in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on September 10, 1937, to parents involved in scientific research and education, Aleksei Ivanovich Averianov spent his early years in an intellectually stimulating environment. After graduating from high school in Moscow in 1956, he briefly worked as a turner before pursuing further education.
In 1957, Averianov enrolled in the Faculty of History and Philology at the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute (now Moscow Pedagogical State University). He graduated in 1963 with a degree in Russian Language and Literature.
Professional Career
Central Organs of the "Znanie" Society (1963-1978)Averianov's career began with the "Znanie" Society, where he held various positions related to youth education and pedagogical knowledge dissemination.
Doctoral Studies and Candidate Dissertation (1971-1975)
During his tenure at "Znanie," Averianov pursued doctoral studies at Moscow State University's Faculty of Philosophy, completing his candidate dissertation in 1975. His dissertation focused on the ideological struggle in ethics during the first decade of Soviet power in Russia.
Editorial and Publishing (1978-1991)
Averianov's career transitioned into editorial and publishing roles. He served as Chief Editor of Literature on Philosophy, Scientific Communism, and Law at the Goskomizdat USSR and later as Head of the Department of Literature on Philosophy and Scientific Communism at the "Mysl" Publishing House. He also led the Editorial and Publishing Department of the Institute of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (1988-1991).
Academic and Educational Roles
Director of Publishing House, Moscow Commercial University (1991-1995)
After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Averianov became the Director of the Publishing House of the Moscow Commercial University.
Researcher at the Russian Academy of Education (1995-2013)
Averianov dedicated the latter part of his career to research and teaching at the Russian Academy of Education's Institute of General Secondary Education. He held positions as Senior Researcher and Leading Researcher.
Encyclopedia and Dictionary Compilation
Throughout his career, Averianov has been actively involved in the compilation of numerous encyclopedias and dictionaries, including the first Russian encyclopedic dictionary on political science, the dictionary "Religions of the Peoples of Modern Russia," and the school dictionary "Social Studies." He is also the author of a dictionary-handbook on social studies concepts and terms.
