Early Life and EducationYuriy Kot, a Ukrainian entertainer, actor, television host, film director, screenwriter, and founder of the Art Holding "All for You," was born on January 23, 1976, in Zhytomyr. He spent eight years of his childhood in Kyiv, where his father worked as an actor at the Kyiv Young Theatre and his mother was a Ukrainian language and literature teacher. Yuriy graduated with honors from Zhytomyr Pedagogical Institute and the Karpenko-Karyi Theatre Institute, specializing in film directing.
Career Beginnings
Yuriy started his career as a radio announcer at the Zhytomyr Regional Radio. Simultaneously, he taught Ukrainian literature at the institute and worked at the Berezovska Special School for hearing-impaired children on Saturdays. After attending professional development courses in Kyiv, Yuriy realized that he wanted to stay in the city. He worked as a freelance correspondent for "Novyi Kanal" and a journalist for UT-1 for a few months until he successfully auditioned to become a presenter on the "Inter" channel.
Controversies and Projects
In December 2013, Yuriy Kot was physically assaulted by unknown individuals. In winter 2014, he hosted the "Antimaidan" program. He joined the Russian state-owned information agency "Russia Today" internet project called "Ukraine.ru" in 2014 and became the executive editor, but he left the project in 2015. On August 3, 2015, Yuriy participated in a press conference alongside former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, former members of the Verkhovna Rada Vladimir Oleinik and Igor Markov, and the chairwoman of the public organization "Mothers of Ukraine" Galina Zaporozhtseva. The conference focused on the establishment of the "Ukraine Salvation Committee."
