Early Life and Chess Training

Dmitry Sharlapov, a Ukrainian chess grandmaster, was born in Kramatorsk, Ukraine. From an early age, he exhibited exceptional talent in chess. Under the guidance of renowned coaches Sergey Polyantsev, Vladimir Savon, and Alexander Aleknikov, Sharlapov honed his skills at the A. Momot Chess Club.

Junior Successes

Sharlapov's talent flourished in various junior competitions:
- 1st place in the Ukrainian Under-12 Championships (2001 and 2002)
- 1st place in the Ukrainian Under-14 Championship (2003)
- 1st place in the Ukrainian Under-18 Championship (2006)
- 1st-3rd place in the "Young Stars of the World" tournament (2004)
- 2nd place in the World Youth Chess Championship (2004)

- 2nd place (twice) with the Ukrainian team in the World Children's Olympiad (2002 and 2003)
