Owner of Kalina Bar restaurant chain
Fans of Moscow restaurants are familiar with the name 'Kalina Bar' - by now, this project has earned a highly respectable reputation. Not long ago, the owners of the restaurant chain decided to try their hand at a slightly different, but still closely related field - the first 'Kalina cafe' opened in Moscow. So, what does a good restaurant according to the owner of the 'Kalina' chain, Yuri Loshankov, represent? Well, obviously, it is clear that serving delicious and healthy food alone will not be enough to attract guests - no matter how delicious the deflops and croutons served in your establishment are, you first need to entice and entertain the visitor. The 'Kalina' chain pays worthy attention to entertainment - guests are regularly offered new concerts and exhibitions. Musicians here play both Russian and foreign music; the project's restaurants are visited by famous groups and performers like 'Quest Pistols' and Tara McDonald. In general, Yuri strives to combine everything in his establishments; here you can listen to music and dance, watch movies, spend time with your family - and, of course, eat delicious food. Recently, the collection of entertainment has been enriched by a new karaoke room; guests are also offered a wide range of tabletop games - from 'Monopoly' to chess.
Biography of Yuri Loshankov
'Kalina' is by no means the first trendy restaurant in Moscow; even before Loshankov's creation, the capital's residents spent their leisure time in 'Aist', 'Galeriya', 'Prado Cafe', and 'Chipollino'. However, Yuri managed not only to catch up with his predecessors but also to surpass them in many ways. So what are the secrets of Loshankov's success? The most important factor is, of course, the location - no matter how wonderful the service you provide is, customers will not come to you in Novo-Mukhoedovo. Once you have chosen a location, you can focus on taking care of your guests. Unfortunately, individually, quality service, delicious food, and a worthy atmosphere cannot ensure your prosperity - you must be able to provide all three components at once.
The food served at 'Kalina' is quite distinctive, but overall leans towards Italian cuisine. Loshankov's future plans involve experimenting with pan-Asian cuisine - which is almost non-existent in Moscow. Interestingly, Yuri himself prefers homemade, Russian cuisine the most. Expansion within Moscow is a fairly promising project; however, Yuri is currently actively working on capturing foreign markets. Currently, 'Kalina' is already operating in Dubai and Turkey; in the future, it is quite possible to open establishments in other countries.
There should be no major problems with attracting customers - contrary to common rumors, there is no particularly biased attitude towards Russian businessmen abroad. Moscow's restaurants even have it easier in this regard - foreigners regularly visit the capital, and the effectiveness of word-of-mouth has already become a legend. Among the regular guests of Moscow's 'Kalina' establishments is even the Belgian royal family! However, there are still plenty of niches available in Moscow. The first problem is the lack of establishments for the middle class - with relatively democratic prices and genuinely worthy cuisine. At the moment, those who have already outgrown shawarma in a roadside stall but cannot yet afford prestigious restaurants have almost nowhere to go in the capital. This is easily explained - the rent in Moscow has long reached an almost indecent level, and every businessman wants to recoup their expenses as quickly as possible. However, a number of large chains are already taking steps in this direction, so the situation may change dramatically for the better in the future.
