Early Life and Education
Born into a family of engineers, Yuri Ivanovich Miloralov was raised in Siberia. His father, Ivan Minych, was the son of an Orthodox priest. In 1948, the family returned to Siberia, where they lived in Khakassia and later in the Kemerovo region.
Academic Career
Miloralov graduated from the Faculty of Philology at Moscow State University. He spent 15 years teaching at the University of Tartu in Estonia. From 1987 to 2012, he worked at the Gorky Literary Institute in Moscow, where he served as a professor and head of the Department of Russian Classical Literature.
