Biography of Yuri Vorobiev

Yuri Vorobiev is an opera bass singer and a soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre. He was born in Leningrad and graduated from the Choir School at the M.I. Glinka Academic Capella in St. Petersburg in 1998. He then studied at the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory. Since 2002, Yuri Vorobiev has been a soloist at the Academy of Young Singers of the Mariinsky Theatre.

Career

In 2009, Yuri Vorobiev became a soloist of the opera troupe at the Mariinsky Theatre. He has been recognized for his talent and was awarded the prize at the VI International Competition of Young Opera Singers named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov in St. Petersburg in 2004.

Repertoire

Yuri Vorobiev has an extensive repertoire, including roles such as Svetozar in "Ruslan and Lyudmila," Podkolesin in "The Marriage," Vesyoly Paren in "Boris Godunov," Surin in "The Queen of Spades," Bertrand in "Iolanta," and many others. He has also performed bass parts in Mozart's Requiem and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 14.

Performances

In 2009, Yuri Vorobiev participated in the Musical Festival dedicated to the 200th anniversary of N.V. Gogol and the VIII Moscow Easter Festival, where he performed the role of Burundaya in "The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevroniya."
