Early Life and Career
Born to a middle-class family in Russia, the Soviet statesman and public figure received a basic education. In 1917-1918, he became a member of the executive committee of the Petrograd Trade Union Council and chaired the Petersburg Labor Exchange.
Military Service and Labor Activism
During the Russian Civil War in 1919, he served in the Red Army. Subsequently, from 1919-1920, he acted as a representative of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions (AUCCTU) in the Urals and Siberia, and served as a member of the collegium of the People's Commissariat of Labor of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR).
Involvement in Economic and Trade
From 1920 to 1922, he participated in the Water Commission of the Supreme Economic Council of the RSFSR. In the following years, he held leadership positions in the AUCCTU's Southeastern Bureau (1922-1927) and its Department of Technical Expertise (1927-1928).
Government and Control
In 1928, he joined the collegium of the People's Commissariat of Workers' and Peasants' Inspection (RKI) of the USSR. He later became Deputy Commissar of the RKI (1931-1934) and a member of the Presidium of the Central Control Commission of the Communist Party (1931-1934).
From 1934 to 1939, he held various roles related to trade and organizational matters in the Commission of Soviet Control (KSC), serving as Head of the Trade and Food Industry Group and First Deputy Chairman.
Arrest and Execution
Arrested in June 1939, he was sentenced to death and executed in February 1940 by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR. His rehabilitation came in 1956.
