ZAPASKA emerged in December 2009 as a collaboration between Pavel Nechitailo, frontman of Propalya Gramoty, and Yana Shpachinskaya, vocalist and leader of the group CheChe. Their paths initially crossed at the "Serebryana Podkova" singer-songwriter festival in 2000, fostering a long-standing friendship.

Live-Looping Technique

ZAPASKA's unique music is created using the live-looping technique, where musical phrases are recorded and layered in real-time. As a duo on stage, they weave a dense musical tapestry using traditional instruments (guitars, Kalinka two-row accordion, rabab, kalimba, harmonicas, duduk), vocals, drum machines, and effects processors.
