In the 2003 NBA Draft, Pachulia was selected with the 42nd overall pick by the Orlando Magic. He spent only one season with the Magic (2003/04). After the expansion draft, he was selected by the Charlotte Bobcats, who then traded him to the Milwaukee Bucks before the start of the regular season. Pachulia played for the Bucks for a single season, averaging 6.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
Rise to Stardom with the Atlanta Hawks
In the 2005 offseason, Pachulia signed with the Atlanta Hawks, where he established himself as a starter in the 2005/06 season. He continued in the starting lineup in the following season (2006/07) but later transitioned to a bench role.
