Zazie Beetz is a German-American actress best known for her role as Vanessa in the television series "Atlanta."

Early Life and Education

Beetz was born in Berlin, Germany, to a German father, a carpenter, and an African-American mother, a social worker. She grew up in both Washington Heights, New York City, and Berlin, and is fluent in both German and English. From a young age, Beetz was involved in community theater. She studied drama at the New School, the Harlem School of the Arts, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, and Skidmore College.

Career

After graduating from college, Beetz began her acting career in New York City, appearing in small theater productions and short films. In 2016, she landed a recurring role in the Netflix anthology series "Easy." Her breakout role came that same year with the series "Atlanta," for which she received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

In 2018, Beetz made her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Domino in the film "Deadpool 2." She has also appeared in films such as "Joker," "Invincible," and "The Harder They Fall."
