Chinese Girl Enrolls in College at the Age of 10
Ten-year-old Chinese prodigy, Zhang Yiven, from Shangqiu, Henan province, successfully passed her exams and enrolled in college. Accompanied by her parents, Yiven was registered as a freshman at the Shangqiu Technological Institute. Scoring 353 points on her entrance exams this year, Yiven was admitted to the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering. The story became even more interesting when it was revealed that Zhang had never attended a public school. Typically, Chinese children are required to complete nine years of primary and junior high school education, as well as finish high school before being allowed to take college entrance exams. Yiven received a complete secondary education from her parents. Her father manages a local vocational school in Shangqiu.

Zhang had previously attempted to enroll in college in 2016 when she was nine years old. At that time, she achieved a disappointing result, scoring 172 points. Afterward, her parents decided to retrain their daughter and wait until this year. Undoubtedly, little Yiven is a true prodigy. However, some speculated after her unsuccessful attempt to enter college that the girl and her parents were just seeking attention.

Zhang's father, however, stated that in the near future, his daughter should transfer from the Shangqiu Technological Institute to another educational institution in order to obtain a doctoral degree.
