Jeanette Okoligbo: Model with a Purpose

Early Life and Career

Jeanette Okoligbo is a captivating model known for her quiet confidence and assertive nature. Despite being accustomed to the spotlight, she harbors no illusions of grandeur common within the fashion industry. Her words exude a sense of self-assuredness, devoid of vanity.

In a recent interview, Jeanette shared her insights into the modeling world, her relationships with fellow models, her stance on luxury, and what truly matters to her.

The Pros and Cons of Modeling

"The main advantage," Jeanette says, "is the lack of boredom and routine. Modeling is an exciting job where I transform into different characters, embodying their lives."

However, she acknowledges the downsides as well. "The biggest drawback is the damage to my skin. Makeup used on shoots is heavy and designed for staying power, with little regard for the model's skin. Add to that the heat from studio lights, and it can take a toll."

Professionalism and Growth

"I love my job," Jeanette asserts. "When it becomes easy, that's when I set the bar higher. Without challenges, we don't evolve or overcome obstacles. It's a shame many don't understand this, perpetuating myths about limitations in our industry."

"I refuse to join agencies," she says. "Over half of them are shams, engaging in escort services or masquerading as professionals while exploiting models for money."

Relationships with Fellow Models

"A decade ago," Jeanette notes, "the question was 'Are you really a producer?' Nowadays, at castings or shoots, I often wonder, 'Are these actual models?'"

"I have cordial relationships with professionals," she continues. "But others misunderstand me, labeling me as insolent or spoiled. I simply value myself. I'm not a hundred-dollar bill to please everyone. I'm a diamond destined to become a brilliant gem."

Instagram Models and Luxury

"I have no issue with Instagram models," Jeanette says. "But we should differentiate social media presence from actual modeling. Notice how they rarely venture beyond their platforms? You won't see them in television ads. It's a separate industry. Eighty percent of them would fail any audition."

"Regarding luxury," she adds, "it's wonderful when it's appropriate. Brand obsession can corrupt young women. Overdoing it results in a cheap, tacky appearance."

True Distinction

"My mother taught me that a handbag and shoes are essential for a woman," Jeanette says. "They're the first things people notice when you enter society. I always follow this rule. Clothing doesn't define someone. You can look expensive in inexpensive jeans and a T-shirt, but your footwear and handbag tell a different story. Poor quality is evident."

"I've started purchasing from Russian brands," she says. "After international fashion houses left the market, our domestic industry has showcased its strength. It fills me with pride."

Future Aspirations

"My self-esteem is well-rounded," Jeanette says. "I know my worth and don't need to seek validation through fame. I'm comfortable in the spotlight, but I don't embrace its contemporary interpretation. Glory should belong to heroes who achieve extraordinary feats, not models."

"In five years," she reveals, "I plan to transition into another field. It's a secret for now, but it's extremely captivating and multifaceted. Stay tuned, and you'll all find out soon."
