Born and raised in Kazakhstan, Professor Abylhozin embarked on his academic journey at the renowned Kazakh Pedagogical Institute named after Abai, where he graduated with a degree in history in 1976. His passion for history led him to pursue advanced studies, ultimately earning a Doctor of Historical Sciences degree in 1991 and the prestigious title of Professor.

Since 1991, Professor Abylhozin has served as a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Historiography and Source Study at the Institute of History and Ethnology named after Ch. Ch. Valikhanov (formerly the Kazakhstan Institute of History, Archaeology, and Ethnography).
