Birth and Education- Born on May 12, 1938, in Karghaly, Otyrar District, Southern Kazakhstan Region
- Graduated from Kazakh Secondary School in Turkestan in 1955
- Studied at the Department of Kazakh Language and Literature at Kazakh State University (now Al-Farabi Kazakh National University), 1958-1963
- Pursued postgraduate studies at Leningrad State University (now Saint Petersburg State University), 1964-1967

- Earned a PhD in Philology in 1969 with a dissertation on Kazakh vowel sounds
- Obtained a Doctor of Science degree in 1989 with a dissertation on prosody in Turkic languages and synharmonism in Kazakh
