Zoran Živković: Serbia's Prime Minister

Early Life and Education

Zoran Živković was born on December 22, 1960, in Niš, Serbia. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown. In 1983, he graduated from the University of Belgrade with a degree in economics.

Business Career

Following his graduation, Živković ventured into business and founded "Tehnomeding" in 1988. The company specialized in electrical equipment repair, supplying medical facilities, and import-export operations. However, the enterprise declared bankruptcy in November 1995.

Political Ascent

Prior to his business career's end, Živković initiated his political involvement by joining the Democratic Party in 1992. In 1994, he became deputy chairman of the party under Zoran Đinđić. In 1993, he was elected to the Serbian Parliament.

Živković served as mayor of Niš in 1997 and 2000. He subsequently held positions as Minister of Internal Affairs, Chairman of the National Council for Combating Terrorism, and member of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal.

Prime Ministership

On March 12, 2003, following the assassination of Zoran Đinđić, the 42-year-old Živković was appointed Prime Minister of Serbia. This position holds significant authority in Serbia's parliamentary republic system.

Personal Life

Živković is married to Biserka, and they have two children: 11-year-old daughter Milena and 5-year-old son Marko.
