Zoriana Marchenko Biography

Zoriana Marchenko, a film actress, has won the hearts of millions of viewers with her portrayal of Maresi Sotnik, embodying the idea of a beautiful, rebellious, and self-loving Cossack woman. Although her life and creative career are just beginning, Zoriana can already be considered a bright television star who will continue to amaze and delight her fans. Zoriana Marchenko attracts attention not only with her rare beauty but also with her unusual name. She was named Zoya at baptism, but her family called her Zorey, or more precisely Zoryana, and this name seemed to foretell her creative destiny. The future television star grew up not far from the places where the series "While the Village Sleeps" takes place. She was born on December 9, 1988, in industrial Dniprodzerzhynsk. However, Zoriana's parents were not factory workers; they were both trained actors, and the girl grew up in a creative and artistic atmosphere. In her free time, she could not tear herself away from the television, and when her mother reproached her for spoiling her eyesight, Zoriana would say that she would become an actress and appear in movies and TV shows herself. Zoriana did not like math and physics, but she was a regular participant in all school concerts and performances. Like many of her peers, she tried to audition for modeling agencies, but her small height (165 cm) hindered her. After finishing school, Zoriana was determined to apply only to a theater institute and would not give up her attempts until she succeeded. However, her first attempt turned out to be successful. Zoriana Marchenko became a student at the Acting Faculty of the Kyiv University of Theater, Cinema, and Television named after Karpenko-Karyi (workshop of Y. Mazhuga). In 2010, after receiving her diploma, Zoriana directed all her efforts towards realizing her childhood dream - to see herself on the screen. Her first roles were very small. In the series "Faith, Hope, Love," which was first shown in 2010, she played a small episode and was not even credited. Her role as Marusya in the third season of the series "Yefrosynia" (2011) became more noticeable. In the famous series "The Return of Mukhtar-7" (2011), Zoriana Marchenko already played the main character in the 29th episode "Dog's Life" - the pop star Lera Serebryakova, who is blackmailed by a kidnapper who has stolen her dog. The actress's unusual appearance made her in demand for mystical films. She had an episode in the series "Diaries of the Dark" (2011) and one of the central roles in the Ukrainian film "Synyvir" (2012). Zoriana Marchenko also played the role of Merzlyukov's daughter in the famous series "Nyukhach" (2013). The young actress continued to actively participate in auditions. After reading the script for the new TV project "While the Village Sleeps," Zoriana felt that this role was simply made for her. With this feeling, she went to the casting - and she was not mistaken. Among the many contenders for the role of a beautiful and self-willed Cossack woman, they chose her - and the role of Maresi Sotnik became truly stellar for the aspiring actress. Zoriana looked equally magnificent and felt comfortable in both the Cossack costume and the antique dress. She skillfully handled the horse, her native accent, although slightly modified by speech lessons, was very close to the Cossack dialect, and most importantly - the young actress managed to penetrate into the essence of her character. Director Elena Tsyplyakova, a very religious person, instructed the actors before the shooting - do not try to justify your characters, show their sins as they really are, make the viewer understand the depth of the consequences. Zoriana Marchenko points out that in real life, she doesn't resemble Maresi Sotnik much - despite her free-spirited nature, the actress understands that not all means are good for achieving a goal and that there are internal boundaries that should not be crossed since it will not bring happiness anyway. The filming of two hundred and fifty episodes of "While the Village Sleeps" took place at an exhausting pace. Once, Zoriana, who is good at horse riding and loves extreme sports, fell off a horse. Fortunately, the actress was not injured, but since then, a stunt double was used for the riding scenes instead of her. Zoriana admits that she has wanted to change her hairstyle for a long time, but she cannot cut her hair until the project is completed. As is often the case, the relationship between the characters on the screen gave rise to rumors that Zoriana Marchenko and Stepan Vyacheslav Drobinkov, who played the role of Stepan, had a closer relationship than just friendship. However, Zoriana replied that the busy schedule of working on the series makes her temporarily abandon her personal life. Like many beauties, the actress was being deceptive - in September 2014, she married actor Alexey Tritenko from the Kyiv Drama and Comedy Theater on the Left Bank. Marchenko's fans congratulated her on social media, noting that neither Zoriana nor Alexey had posted photos from their wedding ceremony in their accounts. The couple immediately headed to the airport to make the most of the short break between the TV star's filming in new projects. The continuation of the series "While the Village Sleeps" with the working title "The Last Janissary" is expected to be released on the screens of the Inter TV channel in 2015. In the same year, the premiere of the joint Romanian-Moldovan-Ukrainian film "Occupation" is expected. It is dedicated to the events in Kholodny Yar in the 1920s, in which Zoriana will play one of the central female roles.
