Aaron Perry Taylor-Johnson, an English actor, was born on June 13, 1990, in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. His parents were a housewife and a construction engineer. He attended Jackie Palmer School from 1996 to 2008, where he studied acting, tap dancing, jazz, acrobatics, and singing. Aaron is a quarter Russian-Jewish.
Early Career
Aaron began his acting career at the age of six. He appeared in the fantasy film "The Thief Lord" and played the role of Macduff's son in the play "Macbeth" in 1999. In the same year, he also appeared in Arthur Miller's play "All My Sons." He made television appearances in the series "Feather Boy," "Talk to Me," and "Nearly Famous."
Rise to Fame
In 2003, Taylor-Johnson portrayed a young Charlie Chaplin in the comedy action film "Shanghai Knights" alongside Jackie Chan. In 2006, he appeared in the thriller "The Illusionist" as the young Edward Abramovich, the future legendary illusionist Eisenheim, played by Edward Norton. Taylor-Johnson transformed into John Lennon in the biopic "Nowhere Boy" in 2009, directed by his future wife, Sam Taylor-Wood.
Notable Roles
In 2010, Aaron landed the role of Dave Lizewski in the crime comedy "Kick-Ass," based on the comic book by Mark Millar. He then starred in the thriller "Chatroom" and joined the ensemble cast of the drama "Albert Nobbs." He also appeared in the music video for R.E.M.'s song "Überlin," directed by his spouse Sam, in 2011. In 2012, he portrayed Count Vronsky in the film adaptation of "Anna Karenina," which received critical acclaim and an Oscar for costume design. That same year, he appeared in Oliver Stone's thriller "Savages."
Recent Projects
After reprising his role in the "Kick-Ass" sequel, Taylor-Johnson was cast as the lead in the big-budget reboot of "Godzilla," which premiered in May 2014. He portrayed Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver in Joss Whedon's "Avengers: Age of Ultron," released in April 2015. He had a cameo appearance as Quicksilver in the post-credits scene of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
Personal Life
Aaron Taylor-Johnson declined the lead role in the film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey," directed by his wife Sam Taylor-Johnson, in order to spend more time with his family. They got engaged in October 2009 and tied the knot on June 21, 2012. The couple has two daughters and one son. Aaron is 23 years younger than his wife.
