Abigail Loraine Hensel and Brittany Lee Hensel were born in March 1990 to Patty and Mike Hensel. The birth of conjoined twins is extremely rare, and there have only been four known cases similar to the Hensel sisters. When the decision of separating the girls arose during their early childhood, it became clear that only one of them could survive. However, their parents chose to leave everything as it was.
