Abilkhan Kasteev, a pioneering Kazakh painter and watercolorist, was born in the village of Chizhin near the city of Jarkent (now Almaty Oblast). From 1929 to 1931, Kasteev studied at the art studio of Nikolai Khludov, a Russian artist living in Kazakhstan. He continued his education in Moscow from 1934 to 1937, attending the Krupskaya Art Studio.
Artistic Career
Kasteev played a pivotal role in establishing Kazakh fine art. His renowned works include "Dairy Farm," "Milking the Mares," "Harvesting Cotton," and "Festival in the Collective Farm."
