Early Life and Military Career
<h2>Birth and Family</h2>Karl Magnus von Bistrom was born into a noble family in the Estland region. His father held the rank of Colonel.
<h2>Service in the Guards</h2>
On January 1, 1782, Bistrom was enlisted as a private in the Life Guard Preobrazhensky Regiment. He later transferred to the Life Guard Semyonovsky Regiment.
<h2>Lieutenant Colonel</h2>
On January 1, 1793, Bistrom was discharged from the Guards as a Captain and assigned to the Finnish Jaeger Corps. He participated in the campaign against Polish Confederates in 1794.
<h2>Colonel and Brigade Commander</h2>
From 1806 to 1807, as a Battalion Commander in the Lithuanian Musketeer Regiment, Bistrom fought against the French in battles such as Pultusk, Preussisch Eylau, and Friedland. In 1808, he was appointed Commander of the Lithuanian Musketeer Regiment and participated in the Russo-Swedish War.

In 1811, Bistrom commanded a brigade in the 11th Infantry Division. During the Napoleonic Invasion of 1812, his brigade fought at Ostrovnaya and defended Smolensk.
<h2>Hero of Maloyaroslavets</h2>
Bistrom's brigade played a pivotal role in the Battle of Maloyaroslavets. His troops were the first to enter the town on October 12, and he fought fiercely throughout the day.
<h2>Advance of the Army</h2>
In 1813, Bistrom became a General-Major and served in the army's vanguard. He received the Order of St. Vladimir 4th Class for capturing Vyazma.
<h2>Attack on Paris</h2>
Bistrom continued to distinguish himself in the advance on Paris. He was wounded at the storming of Reims and received the Order of St. George 3rd Class for his final actions in the campaign.
<h2>Post-War Career</h2>
From 1815 to 1825, Bistrom commanded the Life Guard Pavlovsky Regiment. He was promoted to Lieutenant-General on January 1, 1826.
