Bishop of Poznań and Favorite of Sigismund Augustus

Adam Konarski, the Bishop of Poznań, was a beloved advisor to King Sigismund Augustus. Before his appointment as bishop, he served as a canon in Kraków and was dispatched to meet with Pope Paul IV. Following the death of Queen Bona in 1557, he traveled to Spain to visit King Philip.

As Bishop of Poznań, Konarski played a significant role in bringing the Jesuits to the city. He was a personal friend of Stanisław Hozjusz and was instrumental in attracting the Jesuit Order to Poland.

Diplomatic Missions

In 1573, after the election of Henry of Valois as King of Poland, Konarski led a delegation to France to welcome the new monarch. After Henry's sudden departure from Poland, Konarski was responsible for organizing the king's торжественное return to Poznań.

Death and Legacy

Konarski died en route to the convocation сей, a meeting of the Polish nobility, following Henry's escape. He was recognized as one of the most ardent opponents of the Reformation in Poland.
