Adam Khan: Pakistani-British Racing Driver
Early Life and CareerAdam Khan, a Pakistani-British racing driver, was born in Bridlington, Yorkshire. At the age of 16, he had the opportunity to test-drive a Porsche. This led to an intensive five-day driving course at Silverstone, where he received his racing license.
In 2001, Khan competed in six races of the British Formula Ford Championship, finishing as a runner-up in his debut year with three podiums.
Formula 3 and A1 Grand Prix
Eddie Jordan supported Khan's career when he was 17 years old. He raced in various British Formula 3 events while also pursuing his education.
In 2005, Khan was selected as Pakistan's driver for the A1 Grand Prix series. Team Pakistan, with Khan as their driver, made a strong start, finishing seventh at Brands Hatch. However, costly errors prevented the team from achieving podium finishes.
Hiatus and Return to Racing
In 2006, Khan took a break from racing to focus on his business studies at King's College London.
He returned to motorsport in 2007, joining the World Series by Renault with the Italian team RC Motorsport. After testing with the team, he was offered a role as a third driver but did not secure a race seat. He then tested for Team Pakistan in the A1 Grand Prix at Silverstone, eventually rejoining the team for the 2007/08 season.
GP2 Asia, Euroseries 3000, and A1 Grand Prix
Khan competed for Trust Team Arden in the 2008 GP2 Asia season, but he left after two races to concentrate on the A1 Grand Prix and his university studies.
In June 2008, he joined the Euroseries 3000. He had a successful season, winning three races, finishing second twice, and third once. His victories marked the first time that the Pakistani national anthem had been played at a European motorsports championship.
In September 2008, Khan was appointed president and driver of Pakistan Team in the 2008-09 A1 Grand Prix season. However, he only participated in testing.
Renault Demonstration Driver
In January 2009, Khan joined Renault to demonstrate their Formula 1 car at World Series by Renault events and other presentations. He suffered an injury after a practice accident in Durban.
