Adam Rippon is an American figure skater who has achieved numerous accomplishments throughout his career. Born on November 11, 1989, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Rippon is the oldest of six children in his family. From a young age, Rippon was exposed to sports, with his siblings participating in athletics and gymnastics. Rippon himself also took up gymnastics before discovering his passion for figure skating at the age of 10.

Early Career

Initially, Rippon was pushed into figure skating by his mother, but he quickly developed a love for the sport. From 2000 to 2007, he trained under coach Elena Sergeeva in Philadelphia, living with Sergeeva to save time and money on commuting. In 2006, Rippon received a scholarship from the Michael Weiss Foundation, which significantly eased the financial burden on his family.

In 2007, under the guidance of new coach Nikolai Morozov, he won two medals in the Junior Grand Prix series and became the first junior skater to score over 200 points under the new International Skating Union judging system.
