Adelaida Delgado was born in Highland Park, Michigan, and had Spanish ancestry. She began performing professionally at the age of 15, joining Xavier Cugat's orchestra as a brunette with enchanting brown eyes. With Cugat, Delgado moved to New York City, where she caught the attention of a talent agent. By 1942, she had signed a contract with a movie studio.

B-Movie Stardom

Initially, Delgado played strong-willed women in unexceptional B-movies, such as "Vengeance of the West" and "Alias Boston Blackie." Her lack of success in these roles led her to rebrand herself and change movie studios.

Golden-Haired Beauty

Under Republic Studios, Delgado transformed into a glamorous platinum blonde, often playing the role of a cowgirl's companion in popular Westerns such as "Bells of Rosarita" and "Twilight on the Rio Grande."
