Adrian Dantley: Hall of Famer and Legendary Scorer
Adrian Dantley, an American professional basketball player, spent 15 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), including seven with the Utah Jazz.
NBA Career and Legacy
Dantley was selected 6th overall by the Buffalo Braves in the 1976 NBA Draft. In his rookie season, he was named NBA Rookie of the Year. He was traded to the Indiana Pacers before the 1977-78 season, where he played for 23 games before being traded again to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he finished the season. He was then traded to the Utah Jazz before the 1979-80 season.
In Utah, Dantley reached the peak of his career, leading the league in scoring twice (1981 and 1984). He averaged over 30 points per game from 1981 to 1984. During his seven seasons with the Jazz, he was a six-time NBA All-Star and a two-time All-NBA Second Team selection. Dantley was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.
Coaching and Other Roles
Following his playing career, Dantley served as the interim head coach of the Denver Nuggets in 2010, filling in for George Karl. He currently works as a crossing guard for a local elementary school.
