Early Life and Education
Adriana Kurilets was born on December 29, 1994, in the small town of Sudova Vyshnia in the Lviv region of Ukraine. Raised in a close-knit environment, her family and friends were closely affiliated with the local Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Adriana's father, Stepan Vasylovych, worked at Construction Management 62 in the village of Novyi Rozdil, while her mother, Mariya Hryhorivna, served as deputy director for educational work at the Sudovyzhnyanska secondary school. Adriana also had an older brother, Anatoliy, who initially resided in Saint Petersburg before owning the Kyiv-based company Dimovnt Ltd and eventually returning to Lviv. Social media activity suggests that Adriana's family supported her controversial online content, expressing their approval through "likes" and positive comments.
Adriana pursued her education at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, where she resided in the university dormitory. Her active university life was documented on social media, showcasing her interactions with international students such as Abdulla Jaber from the UAE and Eric Montiel-Vilchis from Mexico, who were likely enrolled in exchange programs in Lviv.
Acting Career
After graduating from university, Adriana joined the troupe of the Maria Zankovetska National Academic Drama Theatre in Lviv. Among her notable stage performances was a supporting role in a production of Rainer Maria Rilke's "The Early Frost." In 2017, Adriana also made her television debut in the Ukrainian series "Ambulance Doctor," playing the episodic role of Natasha, a young woman concerned about her boyfriend. One scene, featuring the actress chopping dill, became a popular meme.
ArtEra Theatre Workshop
In the late 2010s, Adriana co-founded a theater workshop called ArtEra with her university classmate and former theater colleague, Serhiy Homenyuk. The workshop's office is located at the Archbishops' Palace at Rynok Square 9. Inspired by the film character Joker known for his unpredictable nature, ArtEra focuses on teaching children and adults, incorporating works by Ukrainian poets Lina Kostenko and Lesya Ukrainka into their repertoire.
ArtEra maintains a strong online presence, actively engaging with potential students. However, the organization has also been embroiled in controversies. For instance, a video emerged of Adriana performing a scene that simulated the killing of a Russian soldier. This was not the first instance of provocative actions by ArtEra; earlier, on March 31, another controversial video was released featuring a young graduate of the workshop, Sofiya Dumich, smearing her face with blood and holding the Russian flag in her hand.
