Biography of Peter Stormare

Peter Rolf Stormare was born in Arbrå, Sweden. In the early stages of his acting career, he worked as an actor and director at the Swedish theater Dramaten. He participated in productions by Ingmar Bergman, including "Hamlet," "Bacchae," and "The Long Day Closes." He began his film career in his home country in 1986.

Since 1991, Stormare has primarily worked outside of Sweden, acting and directing in theaters in New York, London, and Tokyo. His productions at the prestigious Almeida Theatre in London earned him acclaim in English-speaking theatrical circles.

Hollywood Career

In 1990, the Coen Brothers offered him a role in "Miller's Crossing," but Stormare had to decline due to his contract with Dramaten, which prevented him from going to the US for an extended period of time. However, when the Coen Brothers began working on "Fargo," they remembered Stormare and cast him as the enforcer.

After this role, Stormare's Hollywood career was secured. He willingly alternates between big-budget action films and low-budget independent films. He currently lives in California, is married, and has a daughter named Kelly.
