Biography of Athena Delionidi

Athena Delionidi is a Russian singer of Greek descent, known for her chanson style of music. She has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including the "Woman of the Year 2010" award in the category of Culture, the "Star of the Road Radio" award, and the "Chanson of the Year in the Kremlin" award. She is also a laureate of the "Chanson of the Year" award at the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall in St. Petersburg. Delionidi has also participated in the "Voice 60+" project on Channel One in Russia, where she performed the song "Dov'e l’amore" by Cher during the blind auditions.

Athena was born in Kentau, Kazakh SSR, but spent her childhood in Sukhumi. In 1979, she moved to Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) to study and work. She graduated from the St. Petersburg University of Culture and Arts. In an interview, Athena mentioned that she left home for St. Petersburg at the age of 17, seeking freedom and independence. She respected her parents, but could not accept the suppression of female dignity imposed by her family's traditions.

Early Career

Athena began her singing career with the song "Without Me, My Beloved" in one of the restaurants in St. Petersburg. In 2001, she started collaborating with producer and songwriter Vladislav Sinitsky, under whose guidance she debuted as "Tais" with the album "Marafetik" in 2002. Athena's solo career started in 2005 when she began performing under her own name and released her first solo album, "Sky in October".

Solo Career

As of 2023, Athena has released 14 solo albums. She specializes in the genre of estrada chanson and lyrical songs. Her musical compositions have topped the charts of both regional and national radio stations, including Peter FM, Road Radio, Russian Radio, Chanson Radio, Militsia Wave Radio, Autoradio, Keks FM, and many others. Since 2010, Athena's concerts have been accompanied by live music.

Athena is also actively involved in charitable activities to support cancer patients.
